Now you need to see what you can do.
You could try tearing a phone book, if you have got the strength and use the correct technique you can do it. Maybe you can try a deck of cards which actually may be more difficult than a phone book, those cards can be a little bit slippery. If you are not ready for the phone book yet you can start by ripping magazines, use the proper technique and keep practicing.
Then there are steel rods and nails. When you bend nails you need to use your whole body. Bending nails will really show your arm strength or lack of it. Learn the proper technique, start off by bending something easy and progress your way up.
Look around your area for some competition, grip strength competitions are getting more frequent and there may be one close by your area at some point. Go ahead and enter or just watch to see what takes place and prepare for the next one. If you think you know of enough people that may be interested start one up yourself.
Training the hands and forearms has really gained some momentum as people have found what having stronger forearms can do for them. If you think a weak grip might be your weak link start fixing it.
